About the Event
Arielle Lokadóttir is a bestselling author, storyteller, photographer, and recipient of the 2024 CEAP Grant, who recently completed an art residency in a remote part of Iceland.
In 2021, her writing journey took her on a solo camper van adventure to Iceland. She was fascinated with Iceland’s history, but during her trip fell hopelessly in love with Iceland’s beauty. Since then, she has returned to the country ten times, even delivering a public talk on Nordic Mythology.
Arielle’s love of nature and the arts was instilled at a young age by her parents, particularly her mother, who passed away from cancer complications.
She found the arts again later in life with a newfound passion and believes that it is her mother who gifted her the determination and courage it takes to take the lesser-traveled path in life as a creative entrepreneur.
Recently, Arielle journeyed back to Iceland, where she photographed Arctic foxes in the wild amidst challenging weather conditions and attended an art residency, traveling to the Arctic Circle in search of puffins. She speaks of the profound impact this experience had and how immersing herself in nature changed and healed her in many ways.
Her goal with her photography and writing is to deepen the connection between humans and nature, inspire others to pursue their dreams, and breathe new life into old tales. Arielle has published two novellas, established a hand-poured candle business, and founded the An Owl in Iceland blog.
She believes that life begins outside of our comfort zone and that anything is possible when we lead with love.
